Central Committee members are the grass roots-level elected volunteers of the State Democratic Party. 

The essence of the Central Committees mission is to encourage the fullest possible participation of all Democratic voters and to disseminate the Democratic message, platform, and philosophy.

The Central Committee is the administrative body for the local party. It is responsible for tasks like:

• Organizing at a local level, to expand party membership and increase voter turnout

• Fundraising for the local party's electoral efforts 

• Choosing replacements for state legislators who vacate their office
